USB Ultra IR-Receiver v2.0

The newest USB version with two Atmel ICs, two LEDs and
more sensitive ir receiver !
With the new USB Ultra infrared receiver v2.0 of the Modding section
it's possible to power ON / OFF the PC with commercial universal
infrared remote control units.
Of course it's not only supported to switch on the PC, in addition it's also
possible to remote control PC programs e.g. Winamp, OS, the Mouse, etc.
by using software like Girder.
Guides and links to Windows and Linux infrared receiver software downloads
are available in the Redaktion ocinside.de modding area.
The red control LED shows received infrared signals and the
green LED light up when a programmed power on/off signal is received.

Following electronic components are contained in the set:

IR-Box

The infrared receiver kits had to go without a chassis so far and it's time to change this.
Now there's the new IR box available, where one can insert for example the PCB of the brand-new USB Ultra infrared receiver v2.0, in order to protect the electronic devices and to get a more beautiful construction for the PC or HTPC.
Of course it is also possible to integrate different IR receivers into the small black plastic box, because the IR box comes without cut-out and can be thus adjusted according to desire.

Following components are contained in the scope of delivery:
1x black plastic chassis in two half shells
4x screws
External dimensions: approx. 50 x 28 x 72 mm (W/H/D)

IR-Repeater USB Edition
Remote control receiver through a wall or in a HiFi cupboard

The new IR-Repeater USB Edition offers an easy way to hide HiFi devices and the TV-receiver in a HiFi cupboard or even remote control a PC, Mediaplayer, etc. with a remote control unit from another room.
Infrared signals of a remote controls do not pass a wall or into a cupboard, therefore this IR extender receives the infrared signals, modulate the signals and lead them over a cable to two IR transmitting diodes, which send the signal to the respective HiFi equipment, HTPC, Mediaplayer or PC with IR receiver.
The power supply for the IR Repeater USB Edition is obtained directly via a free USB port and therefore will not require any battery as with the first version of the IR Repeater.

USB Slotbracket
Slot bracket with 2x USB-A to 5-pole connector

The USB Slotbracket is a USB slot bracket with two USB-A connectors over approx. a 20cm lead on two 5-pin headers.
Thus one can connect the USB Ultra IR kit or USB IR kit externally to a free internal USB pinheader of the motherboard.

Compare the pin allocation of the 5-pin headers with the pin allocation from the motherboard manual before connecting and take care to connect it right:

Note about the USB IR v1.1 kit:
Depending on the motherboard it can be necessary to use the USB IR 1.1 with the included 100 ohm resistors or to attach it with USB hub to the PC.
To prevent this, the new USB Ultra IR v2.0 is extended with Zener diodes.

With this additional TSOP 31238 receiver our IR repeater and IR receiver kits can be extended easily.
Just connect the TSOP parallel to the others, for example, in different rooms to operate the IR-Repeater or IR-Receiver from this room.
